Equity & Multiculturalism in a Divided World

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM until 7:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

Please join Dr. Daman Harris, author of The Antiracist School Leader: What to Know, Say and Do (antiracist strategies for promoting cultural competence and responsiveness in everyday practice) for this exciting exploration of closing equity gaps and multiculturalism in today’s world.

This webinar will examine the critical role of equity and multiculturalism in fostering understanding, belonging, and collaboration in our increasingly divided world. Participants will explore how social, cultural, and systemic inequities shape individual experiences and

influence communities, schools, and organizations. The session will emphasize the importance of moving beyond simple awareness to meaningful, equity-driven actions.

The webinar will highlight the value of multicultural perspectives as a foundation for inclusive learning environments. Through discussion and real-world examples, participants will consider how identity, culture, language, and experience impact access and opportunity. Strategies for recognizing bias, challenging inequitable practices, and creating spaces where diverse voices are respected and valued will be shared throughout the session.

A key focus is the role of dialogue and empathy in bridging divides. To understand others, one must recognize different perspectives and hear what others are saying while recognizing their own perspective. The presenter will emphasize culturally responsive practices, active, empathetic listening, and reflective self-awareness as tools for building trust and strengthening relationships across differences. Participants will be encouraged to engage in ongoing learning and self-reflection to better understand their own perspectives and privileges.

The webinar is intended as a call to action, encouraging participants to commit to equity-centered practices within their personal and professional lives. By valuing multiculturalism and prioritizing equity, individuals and organizations can contribute to more just, inclusive, and connected communities, even in times of extreme divisiveness.
