Public Art Accelerates Community Conversations

In the wake of racial injustices, public health crises, distrust of public officials, and other issues, temporary public art reflects our community conversations.


From Black Lives Matter painted on our roads to street artists gathering to graffiti monuments, temporary public art galvanizes communities and brings sharp awareness to immediate issues.


Laura Holland, an arts administrator (MAAA 2023) and the winner of the Jean Wilheim Award in 2023 for her examination of temporary public art will lead the discussion about it and the immediacy of how this art form leads to community conversations.
